I love you, not for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you.

Queen Abby & I are just cuddling in bed ( actually, I bribed her to join me with a piece of cheese) day dreaming about about the up-coming weekend as Saturday is Cundys Harbor Day! My little town holds festivities celebrating each other, our little community & our rich fishing heritage every August. While I can not wait for all the fun we will surly have, I wanted to take a minute to share some pictures of a very special Cundys Harbor Day just last year.

My Husband and I were married on November 25th 2006 in Key West Florida surrounded by a small number of close family and friends. We wanted to celebrate with our other close family and friends who were unable to join us so the following August we held our reception at home in Cundys Harbor on Cundys Harbor Day! Here are a few photos of our special event.

I wanted the wedding to have a summery feel and settled on a Citrus Theme. Our good friend Meghan made our wedding cake. (this was only her first or second try at making a wedding cake!) It was wonderful tasting and quite pretty!

For the centerpieces I created Mini Lemon trees using topary balls, freshly clipped lilac leaves and real lemons. They smelled fresh & crisp & looked very realistic!
For party favors I handmade lemon & lime scented soaps shaped like lemons & limes of course!

I continued the theme by placing lime scented tea lights around the table and using bright yellow table clothes with lime colored napkins. I wanted the event to be comfortable & casual but still be put together & festive so we used cloth table cloths and napkins but opted for paper plates & silverware for easy clean up.

To add to the summery mood & feel of the party we hired John Tavano to play a little Spanish style guitar. It was beautiful. Click on his name to listen to a few clips.
We stuck with the casual feeling by serving buffet style. We went with a classic BBQ style menu of pulled pork, hamburgers, grilled chicken, corn on the cob, etc. Pitt Boss BBQ catered for us, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Towards the end of the evening we re-enacted our wedding by reciting our vows for all of the family and friends that were not able to be with us on the official day.

Yes, another Cundy's Harbor is sure to be loads of fun for all. And during the lobster crate races, bake sale, parade & excitement, I'll be reminiscing about another special day in our lives when surrounded by friends and family, Jason and I celebrated our love for each other.

I just moved to Oklahoma, and have discovered pulled pork. YUM!!! Great choice. Your wedding photos are the friendliest and most inviting photos I've ever seen. The tables even look like flowers the way they are decorated. I love citrus and I think God was wonderful to make their colors as bold and beautiful as they taste. You looked absolutely radiant and beautiful. Wow!

And now, I am off to find this Abby girl that flips her bowl and cuddles to the bribe of cheese.

Thank you, for adding me to your blog list.

Hi I just found your blog and love it. I spent a lot of time in Portland and Little Diamond Island last year, shooting cottages for a book I wrote. Now that I know about Cundy, if I do a sequel I'll try to head up your way. If you want to peek at the Little Diamond cottages, check out my June 2007 posts.

On another note, you may want to check them out SOON, because Blogspot's brand new robot scanner has decided my blog was spam (!)

I'm blocked from posting AND if I can't convince a real human, who I can't contact, that I'm a real blog, they are going to delete me.

Spread the word. Bloggers unite to protest this new "feature"

Quite beautiful--the limes so remind me of a wonderful place we visited in Italy that had lemons growing everywhere. I love your cake---different and refreshing!

What a beautiful place and your cake is wonderful. Love the soaps you made and all the yellow/green stuff. My anniversary is on the same day as yours. Only 1989.
