Wish List

Today I was thinking about my grandmother's dinnerware set and how much I loved it and so I did some investigating to see if I could find it anywhere online. Turns out it was a very popular set and getting vintage pieces is relatively easy! In fact, according to Ebay, Franciscan Desert Rose (1941) are the only continuously produced Franciscan patterns, that remain in production today. Franciscan Desert Rose has become the most sold American dinnerware of all time. Wowzers! Maybe you've seen them before?

I can remember sitting on her patio in the summer, enjoying delicious home cooked meals & this dishware set springs into my mind. I loved how the Flowers & leaves were all raised and I always traced their outlines with my fingers while waiting for food to be served. This set is definitely being added to my "some day" wish list! :-) What's on your "some day" wish list?

That set is so beautiful. One of my sisters collected it, but her whole set was destroyed in her house fire on Christmas Day 1988, and she has never replaced it. I definitely think you should get a set of it. SO SO pretty!!

I am well acquainted with these dishes. My best friend growing up, her mother had these. I can't see them without remembering many wonderful times and sleepovers at her house. I've always loved the dishes and I have been tempted to collect them many times. They are truly timeless.

Found your blog link via Beachy's and enjoyed visiting the little Maine Cottage today. Your posts about the adventures of doing over your cottage are really lovely to read.

Am a million miles away from our home in the North Atlantic but your photos and stories about lobster dinners sure brought back memories.

Hi Elizabeth,

I saw your comment on Dear Daisy Cottage - Kim's blog and I can't believe it you are living my dream...my aunt and cousin(s) go to Maine every year and it just so happens that we stay in Harpswell at a beautiful little cottage. Oh how I wish to live in Maine and to have a little cottage like yours...if I ever do decide to finally move up to Maine I will most definitely keep you in mind to be my real estate agent....

Have an awesome day:-)

I just found your blog and was reading your post on the Franciscan Desert Rose dinnerware. I have an entire set from the 40's throughout the 60's that my Mom & Dad gave me. It started out at their wedding in 1948 and my Mom continued to get pieces from her aunt (my great aunt) throughout their special occasions, like Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. They brought it to me from Kansas all the way to New Mexico on my 15th anniversary. That was 18 years ago and I still love the pattern more than any other. I've collected a few newer pieces from Dillard's and Nordstrum's but I really love the older pieces. They're just beautiful.

I know I've rambled but it's not everyday you run into someone as young as you that loves such old things. I hope it doesn't stay on your "wish list" but that it becomes a reality and you get your set soon.

By the way, I really like your blog. Well done!
