Re-Arrange!

Did I mention that I'm getting antsy for my wood flooring?? I am. But I am trying to be very patient! I took some of my aggression, I mean...energy... out on my living room instead by re-arranging it. Change is always good. I'm not sure how I feel about it though. To start, our television is way too big (probably never heard that one before). Its an awesome TV and it was a gift so I really am not complaining, but when your house is as small as mine,
it becomes a challenge.

These are some before pictures. I really don't mind the stripped couch, its practically new and I picked out the pattern myself, but the slipcover gives me the ability to change it up when ever I feel like it. I have been planning everything around my floors so while my curtains may not match right now, i think they will look very different with the flooring in place.

Alright so here are my after pictures. I think that it looks more spacious but I'm worried that it looks empty! I do need to decide what pictures are going where still and I have a nice large one that I might hang where the TV used to be. We are getting our heater moved so that will free up some space. I'm also hoping that my birthday wish of another matching chair will be granted so I can get rid of the wicker one.

I saw some cute square boxes that I thought might make a cute coffee table if placed side by side. What do you think? Is that what the room is missing?

I want to de-clutter & simplify (especially given my square footage) but its hard to do that and not end of on other end of the spectrum with a sparse & empty feeling. Know what I mean?

What are your thoughts??

Hi Elizabeth,
I know what you mean about simplyfying and decluttering. I just finished doing it this week. I totally changed out my curtains for spring/summer and really really edited. It is a fine line between simplicity and sparse. I wish I was there to help you. Just keep playing around with it...you'll get it right.

Hi Elizabeth, So glad you stopped by for a visit. I really like your couches and LOVE the color of your blue kitchen cabinets. I think your room looks great. If you would like to make your space a little more personal, without much more stuff, I would add a few family pictures or even pics of your dogs, on one of the tables ( or two. Use one of a small grouping of a couple. They are the best decorating accessory I have found so far, and they always make a space feel homey and "good." I think you are on to the right track! :)

You mention the belly bands that I posted. I LOVE them! I tried everything!!! ...including the puppy pads, which work well for some people. I think they have a different style for girl dogs. If you look under dog diapers on ebay, you will see tons of belly bands for the boys and girl "pants." Coco doesn't need mind them at all! He wears them every minute he is in my house now. The first few days, he wet the pad a lot, but now doesn't near as much. I use cheap feminine napkins inside the band. Two weeks, and my house already smells so much fresher and NOT like dog pee! This was my last resort! LOL! If you try them, let me know how they worked for you! :)

It was so nice to meet you! Hope you will stop in again! ~hugs, Rhonda

i think your living room looks very cozy!! i struggle with CLUTTER... so i don't think you are making your room look too sparse. it looks inviting to me!
i am in the process of getting ready to move to a small house in another town (over the next few months--till i am married in may)... and i have been one big whiner over the fact that it is SO small. your post has given me hope that i can make the best of it and enjoy what space i do have! (i believe i have more than 600 sq ft!)... definitely write a post on how the painting of the counter top goes if you try it. i had never heard of that before... but the kitchen counter in the house i am moving into... is bright orange. very hideous... and if i can fix that with some paint and sealer or something--as opposed to having to rip it all out and spend a bunch of $$... that would be great!!
i hope your snow soon melts!! ours is finally getting to the grass and i am hoping it just stays away until next winter!!!
